I’m SO excited to share this newborn session with you today! When Aimee and Rod reached out about booking a newborn session for their third baby, I could not have been more excited to say yes! I’ve been photographing their family every year since their daughter was just 10 months old, and it was such an honor to capture their first photos as a family of FIVE.
Preparing Older Siblings for Photos with a Newborn
During an in-home session, my focus is always on documenting what is most important to you. Since this little one is their last baby, Aimee and Rod especially wanted their three kids to be able to look back on their photos and remember how special this time was for all of them. Their oldest son LOVES being a big brother, and their daughter was SO excited to have a baby brother. Even the most excited older siblings can be unpredictable during newborn sessions, so I made sure to keep things fun and light to bring out the giggles and genuine smiles! During all the silliness and sibling antics, I made sure that dad was always just out of the frame keeping an eye on baby. My number one priority is always making sure your little one is safe!
A Space-Themed Nursery for Baby
One of the things that makes an in-home newborn session special is being able to capture all the things that make your space unique. So many expectant parents put lots of love and planning into creating a special space for their baby, and I love being able to document all those little details for you! Aimee told me that she has a “degree in HGTV” 😉, and she loved putting together their son’s space-themed nursery while she was pregnant. From the artwork to the hand-painted planet drawer pulls to the constellation name decal above the crib, there was so much thought that went into every little detail.
Aimee and Rod, I had so much fun during your in-home newborn session! I still can’t believe how much your two oldest kiddos have changed since I first met you all, and it has been such an honor to be part of capturing so many of your family memories. I know all of you will treasure having these moments documented to look back on in the years to come. Big hugs to all FIVE of you!
