It was a warm, sunny afternoon following a day of nothing but rain and a week of cool, fall temperatures. A sweet family of four gathered together at Columbia’s Riverwalk Park, a place that they have many special memories together. As we walked along the Congaree River, sounds of jazz music wafted down from the Gervais Street Bridge Dinner and provided the perfect, upbeat soundtrack as we stopped along the river for photos. As we smiled and laughed, it felt like the kind of afternoon you want to remember always, a feeling that you want to bottle up and keep.

When I schedule a session with a family, one of the things I always ask is what their hopes and goals are for their session. Aimee told me that their family is building a new home and preparing to move in at the end of the month. They really wanted some beautiful family photos to hang on their walls. Nothing makes me happier than knowing a client’s photos are going to be displayed for them to enjoy for years!

I was also excited that Rod’s parents came along for support in case one of the kids needed a break; that meant I was able to sneak away with just mom and dad to snag a few shots of the two of them, something I always love to try to do during a family session! Aimee pointed out the spot where she and Rod went right after they found out they were expecting, so of course we had to take a few photos there!
