On this beautiful crisp fall morning I met the Rhodes family for their outdoor family session at USC Horseshoe. I love that they chose this location not only because it is beautiful this time of year with the fall colors painting a lovely backdrop, but because it reminds them of where they met. While the leaves on the trees hadn’t all turned their stunning shades of yellow, orange, and red, there was still plenty of beauty to take in and enjoy as we strolled along the old brick path of the USC Horseshoe.
Morgan wanted to update their family photos to capture the essence of their growing son at his age. He is at that wonderful age where he is interactive and curious about the world around him, and also very happy all the time, which was evident by his smiles, and happy squeals during our session! I had a wonderful time capturing this gorgeous family of four, which includes their furry son, Leo who was also bursting with energy and excitement! Morgan shared with me that her son is the first grandchild of the family, which I know is so special! I’m sure everyone in the family is smitten by this sweet boy!
Outdoor Family Session at USC Horseshoe
Their adorable little boy was full of joy and energy on the morning of our session! He looked absolutely adorable in his red plaid outfit that complemented mom and dad wonderfully! He was eager to show off his crawling skills as he explored the grounds of USC Horseshoe, picking up every fallen leaf and rock he found to study it!
He used the brick retaining wall to pull himself to a standing position, and I’m pretty sure he got a good leg workout in, pulling himself up multiple times throughout our session. I love watching little ones master and show off their new skills. There is such wonder and excitement on their faces as they figure out new things about the world around them!
This cute little boy was mesmerized by the bubbles I brought! Seeing his face light up with his big joyful smiles was the highlight of the day! He is such a happy little boy who is so very loved! His puppy brother, Leo, made an appearance in a few of the photos as he is very much a member of the Rhodes family! You could already see the bond these two had together! This little guy was obsessed with his furry brother. I have no doubt that these two brothers will grow up to be best friends, and Leo one of his greatest protectors.
Morgan’s dad graciously came along to watch Leo when he wasn’t in the shot. I always encourage clients to have their pets be a part of their family portraits, as they are family after all, but I also encourage them to bring someone with them who can help with the pet. Having Morgan’s dad there to help also allowed us to grab a few photos of just Morgan and Derek together, which I try to do during every family session!
