I am so thankful for my sweet boy who made me a mom, for all the light and love and joy he brings into my life, for all the lessons he teaches me about life and about myself. I’m also grateful for our angel baby, whose loss taught me that I am strong and brave, who will always be a part of our family and our story. I’m incredibly thankful for my own wonderful mom, who has always been there for me, who always has wise words of advice, who has provided such an incredible example for motherhood for my sisters and me. And I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful mother-in-law, too, who is kind and generous and loves me like her own!I also know that the road to motherhood is not always an easy one. This year’s Mother’s Day celebration is bittersweet for me because I’m celebrating with our sweet boy here in my arms as well as the memory of our sweet baby that we hold in our hearts. There are many reasons that this day can be hard — because of strained relationships, because of loss, because of longing, because of waiting. For those of you for whom this day is also hard or bittersweet, I want you to know that I see you, and I send you so much love.
To all the incredible moms out there — thank you for everything you do. Thank you for all the big and little things, for sharing in our triumphs and joys, for lifting us up in our struggles. Thank you for the unwavering love that you share so freely, for loving our children like your own, for reaching out a hand to other moms and saying “I’ve been there, too. You’ve got this.”
Here’s to another beautiful year in this journey of motherhood. Happy Mother’s Day!
