What I loved most about my recent USC Horseshoe Fall Family Session with the Hakmei Family was the overflow of joy throughout the session. The two boys playfully explored the grounds, running along the brick path and around the beautiful display of flowers. They studied the fallen leaves intently, chased around bubbles, and were captivated by the water fountain!
USC Horseshoe Fall Family Session
I loved capturing the boys’ energy and the essence of their playfulness at this age; but in between those high energy moments were these sweet, quiet and snuggly moments that melted my heart. One of my favorite moments was capturing dad carrying his son on his shoulders. The little boy was so content resting his head on dads! These two dynamics are ever present in kids and I love that the photos capture that warm feeling of family while also showing off bits of the boys’ personalities and the fun they have together as a family.
When I asked Nora what she wanted to remember most about this time in her family’s life, she responded, “The love that is always there and keeps us going. The kids’ laughter and hugs.”
The love between this family was definitely present, as well as the laughter and hugs! It brought a smile to my face watching the boys run up to their mom and dad for a big embrace, or every time I heard the sweet sound of their laughter as they ran around curiously exploring the grounds of USC Horseshoe, which never disappoints for photos!
Nora is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We met at Converse and have since been there for each other through all the highs and lows of life. Our friendship started with late night study sessions, and then went onto graduations, marriage, motherhood, and everything in between!
She has also been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout my business. Nora has always cheered me on and believed in me. As one of my first clients, I’ve been photographing her and her family since she was pregnant with her oldest. I am so thankful for her and the opportunity to watch her family blossom and grow each year.
Nora and Jalal, I cannot tell you how much it means for you to trust me year after year to capture your family photos. It was such a joy to document this season of life—I’m obsessed with these fun, playful photos of your beautiful family (and they might be my favorite photos yet of the four of you!). I’m so glad we got to spend some time together at the Horseshoe, and I’m already looking forward to next time! Love you all!
