The magic of that dreamy sunrise golden light, a quaint little downtown street we had all to ourselves, and the most perfectly in love couple you’ve ever seen? Put those three things together and you’ve got a photographer’s dream come true! This summer sunrise session in downtown Summerville goes down as one of my absolute favorite sessions I’ve ever done (and once you see the photos, you’ll understand why!).
I’ll let you in on a little secret, though… as if wasn’t challenging enough to try to coordinate a photo session with two people who live on opposite sides of the country, the morning of our shoot, mother nature just kept throwing curveballs our way! The foggy morning foiled our plans for some dreamy, open-air sunrise shots (on top of a parking garage!). Summerville’s town square and Little Main Street were fenced off for construction. Instead of trying to make the original plan work, I spent some time driving around the same block of downtown Summerville at 6:15 AM scoping out a new perfect location! Monitor and adjust, just like I learned in my years as a teacher!
And honestly? I think the new location was even better than what we had originally planned! The early morning light was incredible, the quaint little downtown street we had all to ourselves was sheer perfection, and these lovebirds were naturals in front of the camera! Seriously, I could have kept shooting for hours because these two — from their perfectly complementary coral and navy outfits to their genuine laughs and literal heart eyes for each other — made my job so, so easy! It’s one of those times where I rub my eyes and think, “Is this real life?! Do I really get to do this for a job?!”
Christine and Raf: thank you for humoring me and my antics (like attempting to turn your session into a musical…) and for setting your alarms for pre-dawn on a weekend morning! It was such an honor to be asked to capture this beautiful stage of your love story! It’s so obvious how much you two care about each other from the way you look at each other and respond to one another, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes you!
