Pink & Green Boho In-Home Newborn Session for Baby Girl | Columbia, SC Newborn Photographer

There aren’t too many things that brighten up a rainy Saturday morning as much as a cozy in-home newborn session does! From the moment I walked through the front door of Pilar and Mark’s beautiful home, I could feel the warmth — every single detail exuded the coziest ambiance, from the Christmas music playing to the flickering glow of candles to the holiday decorations adding a festive vibe in every corner! More than anything, though, there was such an overwhelming sense of calm. Their sweet baby girl made their family a party of five, and I could not help but notice the feeling of peace and routine — an overwhelming sense of confidence in their new normal. As an expectant mom myself preparing to bring our second child into the family, it gave me great hope that our transition from a family of three to a family of four will be more manageable than I expect!
It’s always special to capture the magic and joy of bringing a first child home, but there is something equally sweet and sentimental about capturing newborns with their older siblings! When Pilar contacted me early this fall about a newborn session for their third baby (who is also a rainbow baby like our little on the way!), I was absolutely thrilled! When I asked what she wanted to remember about this time in their family’s life, she said, “This will be our last baby, so I hope to remember as much of the joy wrapped around bringing a new member into our family.” And truly — there was so much joy! I loved watching this sweet girl’s big brother interact with her, and even though big sister was still a little uncertain of this newest family member, it was still obvious from her little grins and peeks and glances that she was completely enamored with her baby sister! Watching the two of them made me even more excited thinking about the sibling relationship my own two babies will develop over the years!

Pilar and Mark — thank you so much for entrusting me to capture this special time for your precious family! It was a joy to work with all five of you, and I can’t thank you enough for all the ways each of you made me feel so welcome in your beautiful home. 🙂 And Pilar, I especially loved being able to chat with you about our experiences with pregnancy, birth, and new mom life — you made me feel more confident about being able to manage the day-to-day with a newborn and a three year old when our little one makes her debut soon! Big hugs to all of you, and I can’t wait to watch your precious kiddos grow over the years!
